Conceptual Modeling tools

Sketch Plane

In this project, we were asked to design a suite of conceptual 3D modeling tools that were simple to support the concept modeling flow that delighted Architects.

Design Process

There was a lot of internal knowledge regarding designing 3D modeling tools, but there was limited information on what users expected of a "conceptual modeling" tool set.

Who will use this?

As we coordinated with Product management, interviewed SMEs and reviewed related and competitive applications we began to developed, and validated this persona (and added to our library)

One of the tools needed was a way to set the active work plane (we later called it a sketch plane) so the user can construct flat (2D) geometry that will later be used in 3D modeling operations.

To diagram the workflow, and to later help explain it to the dev team, I use an invented design tool called a techflow...

Finally, here is the storyboard we used to explained the tool to development, stakeholders as well as used it as a script for usability testing.
